Following the terrorist attacks that killed 50 people at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, Morocco’s ambassador to Australia and New Zealand, Karim Medrek said that the embassy has set up a crisis unit and contacted members of the Moroccan community living in the city.

The embassy, which sent a councilor to Christchurch, is in permanent contact with local authorities to monitor the situation of Moroccan nationals living in the city, Medrek told MAP news agency.

«We went to all the hospitals in the city of Christchurch where we found out that no Moroccan national was among the victims of this terror attack», the diplomat added.

The staggering death toll from the terror attacks has climbed to 50, New Zealand police said Sunday.
