Dutch Mark Wotte has been sacked as the head coach of Morocco's Under-23 team, the Moroccan Royal Football Federation announced on Monday.

The decision was taken following Wotte's failure to qualify the team for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, which was among the main objectives mentioned in his contract with the Federation, the source added in a release.

The national technical direction will undergo several changes in the few next weeks after assessing the outcome of its four-year work, the Federation pointed out.

Morocco failed to qualify for the U23 Africa Cup of Nations, despite their 1-0 win against RD Congo Sunday in Rabat in the return leg.

In the first leg, RD Congo won 2-0.
