A 38-year-old Moroccan woman was injured in Sunday's terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka, the Moroccan embassy in India said on Monday.
Hajar A., a flight attendant for «Saudi Arabian Airlines», was injured in a bomb blast at a hotel in Colombo that claimed many lives, the Moroccan embassy added.
«Following the terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka, the Moroccan embassy in India, also accredited to Sri Lanka, has contacted the Sri Lankan authorities to take the necessary measures and provide assistance to the Moroccan national», the embassy said.
Despite the curfew imposed in Sri Lanka following the attacks, the embassy was able to send a representative accompanied by a doctor to Sri Lanka to visit the Moroccan victim in order to check on her health condition and to ensure that she receives the necessary help, according to the same source.
On the basis of the medical report, the health condition of the victim, who suffers from minor injuries and shock, is not worrying, the embassy added.
At the request of the embassy, the Moroccan victim will be rushed from a public hospital to a specialized clinic in order to benefit from the necessary medical care under better conditions. The embassy also contacted the victim's family to inform them about her health condition.
Eight coordinated explosions that tore through churches and hotels in Sri Lanka on Sunday have killed at least 290 people and injured another 500, according to officials.
