UN : The Sahara issue does not make it to the Security Council’s June program

The Western Sahara issue did not make it to the United Nation Security Council’s June program, as the body is presided this month by Kuwait.

The Provisional Program of Work of the Security Council is not discussing the territorial dispute, which was marked by the resignation of the UN Secretary-General’s personal envoy to Western Sahara Horst Kohler in May 22.

Not being featured in the program of work of the Security Council does not exclude the ability of addressing the issue during this month. In fact, a member state, such as South Africa, can request holding a meeting on the issue.
