Al Hoceima's first-instance court sentenced two young people to jail for breaking the fast during the day in Ramadan, court sources told EFE.
One of the two men was sentenced Tuesday, June 4, to two months in prison and was fined 500 dirhams for smoking a cigarette during the day. The other man was fined the same amount of money and was exempted from prison.
The two young men were found in a neighborhood in Al Hoceima carrying food and water. They were charged with breaking the fast during the day and for carrying a knife.
For the record, Article 222 from Morocco’s penal code indicates that people who are notoriously known as a Muslims shall be punished for breaking the fast during the day in Ramadan.
