Police arrest Algerian on official extradition request for alleged international drug trafficking

Fez judicial police arrested an Algerian national, subject of an official extradition request issued by the Algerian authorities, for his alleged links with a criminal network specialized in international drug trafficking.

According to a statement by the national police (DGSN), the suspect (36 years old) was arrested while completing the formalities for obtaining a residence permit in Morocco.

He was remanded in custody to complete the investigation led under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office. The suspect will then be brought before the competent judicial authority to decide on the extradition request issued by the Algerian judicial authorities, the statement added.

The arrest of this individual is part of a sustained effort by national security services to strengthen international security cooperation mechanisms to combat terrorism and cross-border organized crime.
