Policemen in the north-eastern city of Nador foiled Wednesday morning an international drug trafficking operation and seized 12,800 kg of Chira (cannabis resin).

The police intervention took place in the town of Izzan (province of Nador), where a truck with false registration plates loaded with Chira was seized while three suspects with criminal records were arrested, national police said in a statement.

According to the same source, a national arrest warrant was issued for one of the three suspects over the charge of organizing illegal immigration operations and human trafficking.

Search operations carried out by policemen enabled the seizure of a car with false registration plates as well as bladed weapons.

The suspects were remanded in custody while investigations are underway to determine all the ramifications of this criminal network and to identify all the people involved in this drug trafficking operation.
