Moroccan comics artist Youssef Daoudi wins the 2019 Excellence in Graphic Literature award

Moroccan comics artist Youssef Daoudi was among the winners, awarded by the Pope Culture Classroom, an American nonprofit organization that educates in the areas of literacy and arts.

The artist won the 2019 Excellence in Graphic Literature Awards for his book «Monk!: Thelonious Pannonica, and the Friendship Behind a Musical Revolution», named as the best nonfiction adult comic book by the organization.

The Denver-based organization introduced the winning books on June 1st, during a ceremony held at the Colorado Convention Center.

On Wednesday, June 12th, Daoudi announced the good news on his Facebook page writing : «‪I would like to express my deepest thanks to the EGL Awards committee. Congratulations to all the nominees and winners! MONK! Was an exceptional journey. Thanks to my wife, editors and friends for their support».

The Excellence in Graphic Literature Awards was launched in 2017 to celebrate the best and brightest graphic novel titles published in a calendar year.
