Badar Eddine Mennani, 23, is the first Muslim carabinieri agent in Italy. The young man was sworn in, during a ceremony held in Turin and attended by his family, parents and sister. Realizing his childhood dream, Mennani is now part of the Carabinieri, the national gendarmerie of Italy.
Born to Moroccan parents in Santa Maria Capua Vetere (Caserta), Badar Eddine Mennai said he found a spirit of integration, acceptance and understanding among other carabinieri officers, Italian news agency ANSA reported.
Badar attended the Carabinieri Training School Command in Torino, where he met friends and brothers that allowed him to freely practice his faith and fast during Ramadan.
