Police operating at the Tangier-Med port foiled on Tuesday a traffic operation of 487 kg of chira on board two transport trucks heading towards a European port.

According to a statement by the national police (DGSN), the search and investigation operations resulted in the arrest of the two drivers, aged 35 and 47, while search measures using police dogs made it possible to find the seized drugs, carefully hidden in the two trailers.

A quantity of 227 kg of chira was found in the trailer of the first truck, while 260 kg was seized in the trailer of the second vehicle, the statement adds.

The suspects were remanded in custody to complete the investigation led under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office in order to determine the ins and outs of this case, the same source notes.
