Six Moroccans injured in airstrike on migrant center near Tripoli

Six Moroccans were injured, including two seriously, Wednesday in the airstrike that hit a migrant center in Tajoura, east of the Libyan capital of Tripoli, said the Consulate General of Morocco in Tunis.

«No death has been recorded among Moroccans» so far, the Consulate pointed out on Thursday, adding that operations are underway to establish the identity of the deceased.

The injured Moroccans were rushed into a hospital to receive the necessary healthcare, the source said, adding that 18 Moroccan nationals were at the migrant center when it was hit by the airstrike. 

Direct contacts were made with the various Libyan stakeholders on-site to monitor the situation of Moroccans who could have been injured in the airstrike, according to the same source.

Two crisis units were set up at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and at the Consulate General of the Kingdom in Tunis.
