Palestinian national arrested for alleged involvement in cryptocurrency trafficking

The Central Bureau for Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) has arrested a Palestinian national, living in Mohammedia, for his alleged involvement in the trafficking of cryptocurrencies for the benefit of terrorist organizations.

Investigations have revealed that the suspect, arrested on June 27, 2019, has a great experience in the field of cryptocurrency transactions through his activities on virtual platforms, in that he has managed to build a wide network of customers with ramifications in several countries, the BCIJ pointed out in a statement.

The man, who was brought to justice on July 4, 2019, is facing several charges, including illegal fundraising, the source said, adding that the man is held in pre-trial detention.

The arrest is part of Morocco’s efforts in the fight against terrorism and its financing sources.
