Morocco's Jamila Sedqi takes oath as new judge at AU Administrative Tribunal

Moroccan judge Jamila Sedqi was sworn in on Wednesday before the African Union (AU) Commission in Addis Ababa as a new judge at the AU Administrative Tribunal.

Jamila Sedqi was appointed for a four-year term as a judge of the Administrative Tribunal alongside two other judges, namely Sylvester Mainga of Namibia and Paulo Comoane of Mozambique.

Morocco's candidacy for this position was endorsed at the 32nd African Union Summit, held last February in Addis Ababa.

Attorney General at the Court of Cassation of Morocco and Liaison Magistrate, Legal Advisor within the Mission of the Kingdom to the European Union, Jamila Sedqi becomes the first Moroccan woman to hold the position of judge at the African Union Administrative Tribunal.

«This appointment testifies to the considerable progress made by Moroccan women in all areas, including justice», Jamila Sedqi told MAP.
