In accordance with the provisions of the partnership Agreement on sustainable fisheries signed between the Kingdom of Morocco and the European Union (EU) on 14 January, the first joint Commission, composed of representatives of both parties, completed its work on Thursday in Rabat, according to the ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forestry.
To this end, the parties noted that the Agreement has complied with the formalities necessary for its completion with the respective institutions that approved it, the same source notes in a statement.
During this meeting, the parties reviewed the practical arrangements and technical aspects to be respected by European vessels for the pursuit of fishing activities in the context of sustainable fisheries management. In this respect, the first fishing licenses will be granted by the Department of Fisheries in the coming days.
In addition, the parties reviewed the outcome of the joint scientific group's work, the statement adds.
They also validated the programming of the financial contribution linked to sectoral support, intended to finance development projects in the fisheries sector in Morocco as part of the «Halieutis» sectoral strategy.
