Investigation opened over the Taroudant flash floods to establish responsibilities

The competent authorities started a probe to shed light on what happened exactly at the Taroudant football field where people perished following the heavy rain that hit the region on Wednesday evening, said, on Thursday in Rabat, head of government Saadeddine El Otmani.

Once informed, the concerned parties started investigations to clarify the circumstances of the incident and establish responsibilities, said El Otmani at the beginning of the weekly cabinet meeting.

After extending his condolences to the victims' families, the head of government said that local authorities and other concerned parties are mobilized to find the missing people.

The government will discuss in today's meeting measures to take to avoid the recurrence of such tragic incidents in other places, he added.

He called for extreme vigilance and taking the necessary precautions, urging the concerned parties to collaborate to prevent such climate change-induced happenings.

He also urged administrations, local authorities, civil society and citizens to be mobilized and collaborate to avoid similar incidents in the future.
