Policemen arrested on Saturday 11 people in the cities of Meknes and Fez, including eight women, for alleged links to a criminal network engaged in sequestration, sexual extortion and robbery with violence, says a statement from National Police (DGSN).

Some of the suspects were wanted by police for fraud and physical assaults, the source adds, noting that the network’s modus operandi consists in seducing victims by one of the women, before the other members of the gang storm into the apartment to sequestrate the victim and take indecent pictures of him in order to extort large sums of money.

Searches led to the seizure of videos and recordings of criminal operations that were carried out in the same way in Fez, Meknes and Casablanca, the source points out.

An investigation is underway on this matter under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office.
