Policemen at the port of Tangier-Med foiled on Sunday, in coordination with their counterparts from the Royal Gendarmerie, an operation to smuggle 11 kg and 350 grams of cocaine hidden in an international transportation truck.
In a statement, the national police (DGSN) said that the search operations carried out immediately after the arrival from Spain, by sea, of this truck helped seize this quantity of cocaine, which was carefully concealed inside the roof of the trailer.
The truck driver, of Moroccan nationality, and his assistant were arrested during this operation, the same source added.
The suspects were remanded in police custody to complete the investigation by the judicial police under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, with a view to determining possible ramifications, at national and international levels, of this criminal act, the statement concluded.
