The Philippines’ government brought 32 Filipinos from Morocco, Egypt and Mexico, CNN Philippines said Wednesday.

Quoting the country’s Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the repatriated Filipinos were «either detained, figured in an accident, or were victims of human trafficking abroad».

The same source indicates that two of the 32 Filipinos were «workers illegally deployed and trafficked to Morocco as household service workers».

In June, Philippines’ Chargé d’Affaires in Tripoli Elmer Cato said that a Filipino worker who died after falling from a building in Casablanca, in the same month, was a victim of human trafficking.

According to him, the 49-year-old worker «was recruited in the Philippines for a job in Dubai but ended in Morocco instead».
