The first Libyan international forum on economy and investment in Morocco opened, on Monday in Rabat, with the participation of more than 400 people from 12 countries representing the public and private sectors and the different economic fields of Libya.

This international event, the first of its kind, initiated under the aegis of the Libyan Presidential Council in collaboration with the Moroccan Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Green and Digital Economy, is themed «Towards a strong economic partnership».

This forum confirms the solidity of relations of cooperation and partnership between the Maghreb countries and their strategic depth for Libya, said executive director of this event Al-Mahdi Abdelaati.

The choice of Morocco to host this two-day economic event is explained by the leading role of the Kingdom in supporting the inter-Libyan dialogue, which was held in Skhirat and led to the signature of the Libyan political agreement in December 2015, said Abdelaati at the opening of this forum.

Libya intends through this event to benefit from Morocco's pioneering experience in investment development, he added, noting that the Kingdom is a major player in the Maghreb region and has excellent relations with several countries of the world mainly the European Union.

Abdelaati noted that Morocco's experience in the field of economic development and investment could open up new prospects for relations between Morocco and Libya and contribute to further promote cooperation and economic exchanges between the two countries.

Various topics will be discussed on this occasion, including the future of the oil, gas and renewable energy sectors in Libya and the promising investment opportunities offered in this area.
