The Oujda judicial police arrested, on Friday, four people, including one of Algerian nationality, for their alleged links to a criminal network involved in international drug trafficking.
The suspects were apprehended in Douar «Chrarga», about 20 km to the northeastern city of Berkane, said the national police (DGSN) in a statement, adding that the search operation resulted in the seizure of 356 kg of chira and a vehicle that would be used to transport the illicit substane.
Police investigation revealed that the Algerian citizen and another suspect were the subjects of a national wanted notice for international drug trafficking, while the other two individuals have multiple criminal records in various criminal cases, according to the same source.
The suspects were held in police custody to complete the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office to review the circumstances of this case and establish its possible national or international ramifications.
