A total of 1730 grams of cocaine, packed in 94 capsules, was removed from the stomach of a 44-year-old Nigerian national who was arrested on November 25 at the Mohammed V Airport, said Casablanca's police.

The suspect was arrested when he landed from Sao Paulo (Brazil) over suspicion of cocaine smuggling in his intestines, which required placing him under medical supervision at Ibn Rochd University Hospital in Casablanca, said the national police (DGSN) in a statement.

After the stabilization of his health condition, he was remanded in police custody to complete the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor, according to the same source.

This case falls within the framework of efforts by police services to fight drug trafficking internationally, the statement added.
