A Chinese fisheries firm has sent eight of its new trawlers to Morocco for octopus and other species, wrote Seafood Source Tuesday, quoting the state-owned firm.
China Aquatic Products Zhoushan Marine Fisheries Corp, also known as ZhouYu, sent its new vessels to the North African Kingdom on December 9. Fishing in the Moroccan waters comes as it has been harder for the Chinese firm to find Octopus.
According to the same source, both Mauritania and Morocco «have given additional access rights to Chinese vessels».
For the record, ZhouYu is not the only Chinese fishery firm that operates in Morocco as the list includes Shanghai Fisheries General Corp (SFGCG) and CNFC Overseas Fishery Co Ltd.
