Morocco had reportedly warned German police against the terrorist behind the Berlin attack

The German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) has reportedly been warned by Morocco about the plots of Anis Amri, a Tunisian terrorist who carried out the 2016 Berlin Christmas market truck attack, German newspaper Der Tagesspiegel reports.  

Quoted by French-language newspaper Medias24, Der Tagesspiegel said that a few weeks after the tragedy, the Berlin criminal police discovered that BKA knew about the plots of the terrorist before he moved to action.

The information «would have enabled Germany to avoid this murderous attack», the newspaper stressed.

Data shared by Morocco included the telephone number of Anis Amri and another extremist, a Moroccan national, who lived in France.

«Morocco had also informed the BKA that Anis Amri was sharing accommodation in Berlin with a Moroccan, who supported the Al-Nosra Front, a branch of Al Qaeda», Medias24 wrote, explaining that the kingdom considered the Tunisian group to be «a dangerous terrorist cell».
