Dozens of young Moroccans visited churches in six Moroccan cities on Sunday, December 22, amid Christmas festivities.

According to Vatican News, the objective of these visits is to «exchange Christmas greetings» there while Christians were celebrating the birth of Jesus. These visits took place in Rabat, Marrakech, Casablanca, Mohammedia, Fez and Tangier, the same platform reported.

«Since the Pope’s visit, a new dialogue spirit has been launched», Father Manuel Corullon from Church of St. Francis in Rabat said. He recalled that these young people came to «share» with their Christian colleagues these festive moments and «greet young people from the Christian community».

«It was a very significant and also prophetic act (…) Many Muslims who are by our side, who know us, who work or collaborate with us have made sure, these days, to wish us a Merry Christmas», he added.

Speaking about Pope Francis' recent visit to Morocco, Father Manuel Corullòn stressed that this trip was «an important reference for many Moroccans, especially when it comes to the Pope's meeting with the King, which was a very strong moment».

«All Moroccans have been very attentive to what has been said and continue to talk about this meeting and the need to move from tolerance to mutual knowledge and sharing of the many values that unite us», he concluded.
