Tangier : Two Danes arrested over international arrest warrant for drug trafficking

The Tangier judicial police arrested, on Friday evening, in close coordination with the Judicial Police Squad at the port of Tangier city, two Danish nationals in an illegal situation in Morocco, whom are wanted in an international arrest warrant for drug and psychotropic pills trafficking.

The National Police (DGSN) said in a statement on Saturday that the operation of checking for the two suspects' information in the database of international criminal police organization (Interpol) revealed that they are wanted in an international arrest warrant issued by the Danish judicial authorities, for their involvement in international drug trafficking cases.

The two suspects were arrested in an apartment in Tangier with a third Dane, to whom they are related, and who was responsible for providing them with financial and logistical resources during their stay in Morocco, said the DGSN, adding that the search operation allowed to seize a large sum of money in national currency and chira rolls.

The internationally wanted suspects were remanded in police custody in accordance with the extradition procedure, while the third suspect is undergoing a preliminary investigation, led under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, to determine all criminal acts brought against him.
