The Interior Ministry called, Wednesday, for vigilance regarding the spread of fake news amid the eruption of the novel coronavirus.

In a press release, the ministry warned against the spread of false and erroneous information attributed to official institutions on social media about preventive measures taken by the authorities to fight the virus.

The ministry stressed that the measures taken by the authorities are announced through official press releases published on official platforms and social media accounts.

The ministry also said that legal steps would be taken by the relevant authorities to identify those involved in the publication of these allegations and lies.
