An American national of Lebanese origin, involved in cocaine trafficking, died Thursday evening at the Ibn Rochd University Hospital in Casablanca, said security services at the Mohammed V International Airport.
Policemen arrested, Wednesday at the Mohammed V international airport, a 66-year-old US citizen following his arrival from Sao Paulo after he was suspected of carrying cocaine capsules in his intestines, national police said in a statement, adding that the man was preparing to take a flight to Cairo’s international airports.
The suspect has been placed under medical supervision at the hospital after suffering from discomfort at the airport, the source said, adding that 68 cocaine capsules were removed from his intestines for a total weight of 795 grams before he died in hospital.
The deceased's body has been transferred to the hospital’s morgue for autopsy, while investigations are underway to shed light on the circumstances of this drug-trafficking attempt.
