Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani ordered on Sunday the repatriation of Mauritanians stranded in Morocco because of coronavirus shutdown. The neighboring country has sent two planes to repatriate its nationals.

This decision comes after Morocco had decided to suspend international flights in order to combat the spread of the new coronavirus.

According to the Mauritanian newspaper Sahara Media, which refers to an operation of direct coordination with the Moroccan authorities, the two planes left Nouakchott on Sunday night and landed at the Mohammed V airport of Casablanca. The planes will head back this Monday to Mauritania.
