More than 700,000 employees of the private sector are registered as of April 1 at 17:00 to benefit from the monthly fixed allowance of 2,000 dirhams from the National Social Security Fund (CNSS), as part of the implementation of support measures for companies vulnerable to the shock induced by the coronavirus crisis, Minister of Employment and Professional Integration Mohamed Amekraz, told MAP on Wednesday.

The minister indicated that a total of 113,000 companies have declared a temporary work stoppage since 15 March due to the Covid-19 crisis, noting that all employees will return to work and companies will resume operations as soon as the crisis ends.

Fully covered by the special Fund for the management of the coronavirus pandemic, this indemnity concerns employees registered with the CNSS for the month of February 2020, in temporary furlough and working for companies currently experiencing difficulties. These employees will also continue to benefit, in accordance with the provisions in force, from family allowances and compulsory health insurance benefits.

The CNSS had set next Friday as the last deadline for employers affiliated to the Fund to register workers on temporary leave in order to benefit, before April 6, from the fixed indemnity of 1,000 dirhams for the month of March. After this date, no declaration of work stoppage for the month of March 2020 would be receivable, the CNSS pointed out.

Implemented with the aim of preserving the purchasing power of employees, the net monthly fixed compensation will go as follows: 1,000 dirhams for the month of March and 2,000 dirhams for the months of April, May and June.

This indemnity, intended for employees registered with CNSS for the month of February 2020, in temporary furlough and belonging to companies in difficulty, is entirely covered by the special Fund set up by King Mohammed VI.
