The National Police (DGSN) categorically denied, on Thursday, the false allegations posted on social media, claiming that police in Marrakesh have dismantled, during the state of health emergency, a criminal network targeting medical and nursing staff once they leave their workplace, opting for a criminal modus operandi consisting of wearing protective face masks and glasses so as not to be identified.
While refuting the erroneous information which affects the feeling of security among medical and nursing staff who are on the front line in the fight against the epidemic of the new coronavirus, the DGSN underlined in a press release that a judicial investigation has been opened on this matter under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office and that the necessary technical expertise has been initiated in order to identify the individual or individuals behind these rumors which undermine the general feeling of security.
The DGSN added that the damage to property recorded recently by the Marrakech police services concerned the arrest of an individual suspected of robbery, but no medical or nursing staff was among the victims, adding that this individual was remanded in police custody to conduct the preliminary investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office.
