The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) categorically denied on Tuesday allegations spread on social media claiming that several police stations were put under quarantine or closed after some officials had been infected with the novel coronavirus.

Police services are part of sensitive security establishments that have to perform their duties regularly, DGSN pointed out in a statement, adding that all the laboratory tests carried out by specialized medical teams amongst the staff of a security district in the city of Tetouan, which is mentioned in these allegations, have turned to be negative.

This security district has been sterilized and has not been closed nor quarantined, the statement said.

According to the same source, 39 covid-19 cases have been confirmed among police officers at the national level since the start of the coronavirus pandemic in Morocco.

Eight of these officials have recovered from the disease, while the 31 others are under medical care, it added.
