The Netherlands brings back 300 of its nationals stranded in Morocco

The first repatriation flight from Morocco landed at around 00:30 am on Monday at the Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

According to NL Times, the flight chartered by The Hague departed from Casablanca, Sunday; bring around 300 Dutch citizens stranded in Morocco amid the coronavirus lockdown.

The repatriated nationals included people who needed to urgently return home, the same source reported, adding that most of them «need medicines or medical care».

On Twitter, the Dutch Foreign Affairs Minister Stef Blok thanked the Moroccan authorities for their collaboration, calling the operation «good news». «We will continue to work hard to ensure that the other travelers also return home safely», Blok added.

For the record, the Minister said last week that around 3,000 Dutch citizens were stranded in Morocco because of the lockdown.
