Police arrested five people, Saturday in Laayoune, including two sub-Saharan nationals and two Moroccans with criminal record, for their alleged links to an illegal immigration criminal network, National Police (DGSN) has said, adding that this security operation led to the arrest of a group of would-be irregular immigrants.
Afterwards, 13 would-be irregular immigrants from African sub-Saharan countries were arrested, it pointed out.
Searches led to the seizure of three life jackets and five inflatable boats, in addition to a set of cell phones used in this criminal activity, the statement said.
The suspects were placed on custody, while investigations are underway under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office.
