Morocco, after all the intense efforts made to contain the spread of covid-19, is very close to the zone of success made up of the countries which have brought the epidemic under control, according to the High Commission for Planning (HCP).

According to a recent study, the Kingdom is among countries relatively mildly affected at this stage and which are on their way to control the propagation, given that the number of reproduction (R0) would be below 1 and its recent progression over the last 10 days is 1.4% and continuously decreasing.

It is the best positioned country among the big African countries in this group and the closest to switch to the group made up of relatively mildly affected countries and which are in the process of eradicating the disease.

Confirmation of the R0 downward trend will thus make it possible to ensure that the imminent lifting of quarantine on part of its population, dictated by obvious economic and social reasons, will not cause Morocco to deviate from the trajectory which should lead it to the successful group made up of relatively mildly affected countries and which are in the process of eradicating the disease, said the HCP.

The strengthening of vigilance and the intensification of the tests currently under way suggest that Morocco is moving towards a logic of a controlled lifting of quarantine, according to the HCP study.

However, the document highlights that the curve of daily cases (as of May 22) shows worrying jolts and the curve of cumulative cases is still on the rise with some flattening signs without making an exponential trend.

In addition, if we consider the active cases, the trend of the curve is downward, noted the HCP.
