151 Moroccans who were stranded in Tunisia amid the coronavirus outbreak were repatriated Monday to Morocco.

This operation, which was carried out smoothly and in coordination with Tunisian authorities, took place in full compliance with the precautionary measures and the health protocol in force, Morocco’s Consul General in Tunis, Ali Benaissa, told MAP.

Benaissa recalled that the Embassy and the Consulate General of the Kingdom in Tunis had identified more than 300 Moroccans stranded in Tunisia.

The diplomat noted that the Embassy and the Consulate General of the Kingdom in Tunisia has provided, throughout this period, support for all the people who expressed this need, particularly in terms of living expenses and accommodation.

The requests of certain Moroccan nationals who needed medical follow-up were also met by facilitating their access to some Tunisian hospitals to carry out medical tests and by providing them with the necessary medicines, he said.

During the repatriation operation, priority was given to people in precarious situation, those suffering from health problems or chronic diseases, as well as the elderly and children, he explained.
