Eid Al Adha : Additional preventive measures amid the Covid-19 health crisis in Morocco

Days before Eid Al Adha, the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests have issued a series of new measures that must be implemented to ensure adequate sanitary conditions amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under the current conditions of Covid-19, in addition to the usual measures for monitoring the health of animals and hygienic conditions, additional preventive measures must be observed in the context of Covid-19 throughout the chain from the sale of animals until the day of sacrifice, said the statement.

To this end, the same source went on, actions have been taken namely the publication of a guide on COVID-19 preventive health measures to be respected on the day of Eid, notably by butchers, and organizational measures to establish in the cattle markets intended for Eid Al Adha, the setting up of additional temporary markets for Eid Al Adha, the reinforcement of control measures for the transport of animals intended for Eid on the whole territory and the extension of health measures to short-term jobs which are linked to Eid Al Adha event to preserve these jobs.

The competent services of the two ministries are mobilized to continue the preparation in order to ensure the implementation of the required measures and to ensure compliance with the conditions allowing the smooth running of the Eid Al Adha in the context of COVID-19, and this in close coordination with the departments, establishments, Communes and professional organizations concerned, the press release concluded.
