The Government Council, which met on Thursday, adopted the draft decree N° 2.20.426 extending the state of health emergency throughout the national territory until August 10, 2020, at 6 p.m., as part of efforts to fight against the coronavirus pandemic, said Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Government's spokesperson, Saaid Amzazi.

This draft decree was presented to the Government Council by the Minister of the Interior, Amzazi added at a press briefing held following the Government's Council, which was chaired by Head of Government, Saad Dine El Otmani.

Under Decree No. 2.20.293, the government had decreed on March 24, 2020, the state of health emergency throughout the national territory to fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

On June 9, 2020, and under Decree No. 2.20.406, the government announced the extension of the state of emergency and approved the provisions relating to the easing of lockdown-restrictions.
