As part of ongoing efforts to stem the spread of the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19) andfollowing the emergence of new coronavirus hotspots in several neighbourhoods in Tangier, it has been decided to tighten precautionary restrictions and preventive measures in the city and to close the entrances of target areas from Sunday, July 12, 2020 at midnight, Interior Minitry announced.

In a statement, the ministry said that it has also been decided to tighten controls to ensure that persons in these areas leave their homes only in cases of extreme necessity, while observing the necessary precautions : physical distancing, hygienic measures, compulsory wearing of masks and downloading of the wiqaytna application.

It has also been decided to require an exceptional mouvement permit issued by enforcement officers and to close hammams, sports halls and stadiums.

According to the same source, it has also been decided to close markets, malls, shopping centres, cafés and public spaces (parks, gardens, public places ...) at 8 p.m.

The obligation to have an exceptional authorization issued by the local authorities to travel outside the city of Tangier, as well as all other restrictions decided through the state of health emergency (prohibition of gatherings, meetings, weddings and funerals …) will be maintained, added the statement.

It underlined that the alleviation of these measures depends on the development of the epidemiological situation in the city, the achievement of concrete results to contain the pandemic and the decrease in the number of infected people, which will make it possible to curb the spread of this epidemic.
