Minister of Health Khalid Ait Taleb warned on Tuesday in Rabat against any complacency with the precautionary measures issued by the public authorities to fight against the spread of Covid-19.

«A certain complacency with precautionary measures has been recently observed», said Ait Taleb, stressing the need to scrupulously comply with the measures recommended by the authorities (wearing masks, respecting physical distancing) in order to fight against the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

«The epidemiological situation has changed in Morocco and worldwide», he said, expressing concern at the increase in deaths and COVID-19 cases.

In this regard, the minister urged citizens to stay alert, increase vigilance and show responsibility and solidarity, particularly in the wake of the new school and university year, saying that the epidemic is not over yet.

«The results obtained so far by the Kingdom were commended by the international community, because Morocco has the lowest fatality rate worldwide», he said, attributing these achievements to the efforts made by all stakeholders. «It would be a shame to lose all these results and sacrifices made so far», he noted.

Following the lifting of lockdown measures, the situation in some provinces of the Kingdom is different from other regions, he said, noting that asymptomatic people can spread the virus without being aware of it, hence the paramount importance of wearing a face mask.
