The judicial police of Laayoune arrested, on Tuesday evening, in coordination with its counterpart in Boujdour, four people aged between 30 and 40, including a Senegalese national and another from Guinea-Conakry, over suspicion of links with a criminal network active in the organization of irregular migration and human trafficking.

In a press release, the National Police (DGSN) said that the suspects were arrested during a simultaneous operation in the towns of Laayoune and Boujdour, before the investigation and search procedures resulted in the arrest of 21 candidates for irregular migration, the seizure of an inflatable boat and five outboard engines, two geolocation devices, a 4x4 vehicle and a car, as well as a set of cell phones and sums of money suspected of resulting from this criminal activity.

The four suspects were taken into custody, while the candidates for irregular migration were subjected to the preliminary investigation procedures carried out under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, in order to determine the ins and outs of this case and identify all the accomplices involved in these criminal networks, the DGSN concluded.
