Police seize 13 tons of cannabis resin near Casablanca

Elements of the prefectural service of the judicial police of Casablanca on Thursday seized 13 tons of cannabis resin aboard a freight truck and a car and arrested a 39-year-old man who was wanted by the police for international drug trafficking and his alleged involvement in this criminal act.

The two vehicles were intercepted simultaneously in a rural area, located between Mediouna and Tit Mellil, near the city of Casablanca, National Police (DGSN) said in a statement.

Search operations led to the seizure of 11 tonnes and 600 kilograms of cannabis resin concealed in the truck, while one ton and 400 kg of the same drug were hidden in the car, the source pointed out.

The suspect was placed on custody, while investigations are underway under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office.
