Morocco records highest number of daily Covid-19 infections, with 2,234 new cases

2,234 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Morocco during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 72,394.

1,345 new recoveries were recorded in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries in the Kingdom to 55,274.

32 deaths were recorded between yesterday and today, bringing the total number of deaths to 1,361. The country now has 15,759 active cases under treatment. The number of critically ill patients reached 201, including 33 on ventilators.

New cases recorded mainly in Casablanca, Zagora and Marrakech

Casablanca-Settat region comes first, with 948 new cases : 773 in Casablanca, 72 in Settat, 24 in Nouaceur, 24 in Mediouna, 23 in Mohammedia, 14 in Berrechid , 10 in El Jadida, 7 in Benslimane and 1 in Sidi Bennour.

Next comes the Drâa-Tafilalet region, with 287 new infections : 102 in Zagora, 66 in Errachidia, 59 in Ouarzazate, 30 in Midelt and 30 in Tinghir.

In Marrakech-Safi, 228 new cases were recorded : 107 in Marrakech, 60 in the province of El Haouz, 32 in Essaouira, 15 in Safi, 10 in Chichaoua, 3 in the province of Rhamna and 1 in Youssoufia.

165 cases have been recorded in the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region : 53 in Azilal, 51 in Khénifra, 29 in Beni Mellal, 23 in Fqih Bensaleh and 9 in Khouribga.

Rabat-Salé-Kénitra recorded 130 new infections : 48 in Kénitra, 44 in Salé, 14 in Rabat, 11 in Sidi Kacem, 7 in Skhirat-Témara, 5 in Sidi Slimane and 1 in Khemisset.

In Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, 118 people tested positive for Covid-19 between yesterday and today: 65 in Tanger-Asilah, 20 in Tétouan, 14 in Larache, 11 in Al Hoceima, 5 in M'diq- Fnideq, 2 in Chefchaouen and 1 in Ouazzane.

109 cases were recorded in Souss-Massa : 52 in Agadir-Idda-Outanane, 42 in Inzegane-Ait Melloul, 8 in Chtouka Ait Baha, 5 in Tiznit and 2 in Taroudant. Fez-Meknes, for its part, recorded 94 new cases : 36 in Taza, 31 in Fez, 17 in Meknes, 5 in Sefrou, 2 in Taounate, 1 in El Hajeb, 1 in Moulay Yacoub and 1 in Boulemane.

87 new cases were recorded in Dakhla (Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab), 38 cases in Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (23 in Laâyoune, 10 in Es-Smara, 3 in Boujdour and 2 in Tarfaya) and 17 cases in Guelmim-Oued Noun (14 in Guelmim and 3 in Sidi Ifni).

The Oriental region confirmed 13 cases (8 in Oujda-Angad, 2 in Jerada, 2 in Guercif and 1 in Berkane).
