Director General of National Police and Territorial Surveillance Abdellatif Hammouchi received, on Thursday, US Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco David Fischer.
The meeting, which took place at the headquarters of the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) in Rabat, was attended by executives from the DGST central services and representatives of the US Embassy in Rabat.
A press release from the DGST said that the two parties discussed various security matters of common interest, notably cooperation and coordination mechanisms in the fight against terrorism, violent extremism, organized crime and their growing links in the region of North Africa and Sahel.
They also discussed the means to enhance this cooperation, which has become a model to follow in the field of counterterrorism, said the same source.
The two parties also reviewed the mechanisms for developing and strengthening cooperation between the services of the national police and the DGST, and the American security agencies involved in the field of combating the risks and threats linked to transnational organized crime, in addition to the sharing of expertise and experiences.
At the end of this meeting, the Director General of National Police and Territorial Surveillance and the US Ambassador welcomed the results of bilateral strategic cooperation in the security field, expressing the readiness of the two countries to promote this cooperation in contribution to world peace and stability, the statement concluded.
