Russia, which heads the UN Security Council this month, published Thursday a list of the meetings it is planning to held and discuss during the month of October.

Three sessions dedicated to the Western Sahara issue are scheduled for this month : October 12, 14 and 28. Minurso's mandate expires on October 31.

Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vassily Nebenzia began his presidency by meeting, via video conference, the UN member states that are not part of the Security Council to brief them on the month's work program.

For the record, in April 2013, Vladimir Putin opposed the draft resolution submitted by the Obama administration.

Yesterday, the Kingdom's Ambassador to Moscow met with Vladimir Putin's Special Representative for the Middle East and African Countries, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov. The talks between the two diplomats focused on the Sahara issue. A subject already discussed, on September 11, during a telephone conversation by Nasser Bourita and Sergey Lavrov.
