US Secretary of Defense, Mark Esper, was received, Friday in Rabat, respectively by the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of the National Defense Administration and the Lieutenant General, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR).
The two officials held talks during which they discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation in the area of national defense, as well as prospects for their development, the statement added.
The two officials agreed on a military cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries that focuses on the consolidation of common security objectives, in particular the improvement of military preparation, the strengthening of skills and the development of the interoperability of forces.
Loudyi proposed to strengthen military cooperation with the United States by promoting joint investment projects in Morocco in the defense industry sector, with a view to fostering technology transfer and gradually building the strategic autonomy of the Kingdom in this area.
Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, the Lieutenant General, FAR Inspector General, received Esper in Rabat.
The two sides highlighted their ambition to develop the centuries-old cooperative relations between the armies of the two countries in the same spirit of friendship and shared trust. The deepening of these relations should materialize through the consolidation of technical cooperation and its diversification to integrate components further developing the interoperability of armies and their capacities to effectively face the threats that may arise.
They also pledged to monitor the work of the Morocco-US Defense Advisory Committee to strengthen military cooperation between the two countries.
Cooperation between the two countries also includes the organization in Morocco of the combined Moroccan-US exercise African Lion, a major exercise, considered among the most important joint exercises in the world.
