Marrakech : French of Algerian origin nabbed for alleged links with criminal network of international drug trafficking

The Marrakech judicial police arrested, on Monday, on the basis of precise information provided by the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance, a French citizen of Algerian origin, pursuant to an international arrest warrant issued by the French judicial authorities for his alleged links with a criminal network operating in international trafficking of drugs and psychotropic pills.

The National Police (DGSN) said on Tuesday, in a statement, that the checking operation in the database of the international criminal police organization Interpol revealed that the French judicial authorities issued a red notice against this foreign national for his alleged involvement in international drug trafficking operations.

The suspect was taken into custody in accordance with the extradition procedure, added the DGSN, noting that the French authorities were notified of this arrest to send the extradition file.

This arrest falls within the framework of international security cooperation relations and efforts made by the Moroccan police services to prosecute individuals wanted internationally over cases of transnational crime, the statement concluded.
