The decision by the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of National Education in Al Fida-Mers Sultan to reject the inclusion of two texts addressing the suffering of the Palestinian people in the sixth-grade Arabic language exam (June 2025 session) has sparked widespread controversy. Many view the move as an affront to the unifying national values of Moroccans and a step toward reinforcing «educational normalization with the Zionist entity».
Human Rights Watch said Moroccan authorities «continued their crackdown on dissent, and security forces forcibly dispersed peaceful protests» in its 2024 report on the human rights situation in Morocco.
