Spanish MEPs have started the new parliamentary year by addressing a Court of Justice of the European Union's ruling on the Sahara. They slammed a «new maritime route», launched by French container transportation company CMA, meant to link Dakhla to Algeciras.
The European Commission defended on Tuesday, 9th of October, the fisheries agreement. During a session at the European Parliament the EU body stressed that the treaty is beneficial for the Sahrawi people.
Morocco and the European Union concluded on Thursday negotiations held to renew the 2014 fisheries agreement, a diplomatic source told Yabiladi. The treaty includes the Western Sahara waters.
The European Union and Morocco have not reached a settlement yet regarding the 2014 fisheries agreement. The latter expires on Saturday, 14th of July.
The Polisario has officially launched a new campaign to oppose negotiations held currently between Morocco and the European Union.
Annoyed by the European Commission’s wish to integrate the Sahara in the agricultural and fisheries agreements negotiated with Morocco, the Polisario accuses the body’s jargon regarding the territorial dispute.
