According to a recent report by the World Bank, Covid-19 is pushing Morocco’s economy into a severe recession, the first one since 1995.
In a study published April 12, the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) addressed the impact of the novel coronavirus on Arab economies. Recalling the measures taken by Morocco and other states, the report highlights «great uncertainty as to the potential economic impact of the coronavirus» on these economies.
In an assessment done by two UN agencies and the World Bank, it has been revealed that Morocco’s most vulnerable economic sectors are being hit hard by the Covid-19 crisis.
To cope with the «threat» of Morocco, the presidents of Ceuta and Melilla are now betting on the financial support of Spain’s central government. The two cities are calling for an independent economic model like the one adopted in Morocco.
The Moroccan economy is expected to see a modest decline over the next fifteen years, the Center for Economics and Business Research said in a new report.
