Morocco's 2023 energy report by ANRE highlights a 2.3% rise in electricity production to 42.38 TWh, with renewables contributing 21.7% due to advances in solar and wind energy. However, coal remains dominant at 64%, while hydropower declines amid water stress.
According to the World Economic Forum's Energy Transition Index, Morocco ranks 65th globally, maintaining its top position in the Maghreb, second in Africa, and fifth in the Arab world. Though progress has slowed, the report shows the energy sector continues to make strides.
